Gardening workshop in the SOS children's village
On the 27th of March our chapter organized a gardening workshop in the SOS children's village. The aim of this workshop was to raise the ecological awareness of the kids and to teach them the basic concepts of gardening.
This workshop was organized by our EVS volunteers, François from France and Margarida from Portugal, accompanied by 4 members of our chapter.
First we watched one short video which showed the damages the man makes to the nature and after that we discussed why it’s not good to pollute the environment.
Then we went to the yard where one group of kids accompanied by 3 volunteers were planting flowers in the ground, while the other group together with the rest of the volunteers planted seeds in bottles.
The kids had fun during this workshop and learned the basic ecologic and gardening concepts. Also, they got a responsibility to take care of the plants in the future.
